Dazza (The dowry)
Installation; Woven fabric, cowhide leather and plexi glass
240 x 90 cm
In the past, Dazza as a tradition (the dowry gift) used to be very ceremonial, and later it became more about the gift as a material object. It's material transformation is something that is undeniable. This piece symbolises how Dazza changed in Kuwait throughout time. Sadu weaving is used to represent tradition, and the leather part resembles an oversized Chanel bag. The Chanel bag is used as a literal and a metaphoric symbol, as it is actually given as a gift that is part of the dowry itself. Chanel logo was replaced with the Arabic word ''Dazza'' in gold color plexi glass.
